Solved: Windows Server 2008 R2 Task Scheduler failed to start Event ID 101

Error: Task Scheduler failed to start “\task name” task for user “domain\user name“. Additional Data: Error Value: 2147943726.

Taskscheduler

Solution:

Go to TaskScheduler > Select the Task > Right click Properties > Check “If the running task doesn’t end when requested, force it to stop” and “Stop the existing instance” from the drop down menu.

Generally, it occurs if a task is already running some poorly programmed batch script or any script which doesn’t end it’s instances automatically and takes forever to end. So, doing the above steps would resolve the issue. And do note that there are other resolutions as well for this specific error code, but you can start the troubleshooting steps from here and go further.

Fun and Useful Screeshot

Microsoft has finally made it super-easy to dump the contents of your screen down to an image file. In times prior, you could hit the Print Screen key to copy the contents of the entire display, but you’d still have to paste that image into a third-party application (or Paint. Or you could also use Microsoft’s Snip tool, but we digress). Now, hitting the Windows Key and Print Screen at the same time dumps the entirety of your screen to a .PNG file in your Pictures folder. Easy!

New Windows 8 Shortcut Keys

 Windows 8 Shortcuts:

There might be a couple of new keys that aren’t included in this list, but as far as I know, these are few important ones.
  • Windows key – brings up the Metro start screen. You can start typing to search for an app, just like the Win7 start menu.
  • Win + D – brings up the old Windows desktop.
  • Win + C – brings up the Charms menu, where you can search, share, and change settings.
  • Win + I – opens the Settings panel, where you can change settings for the current app, change volume, wireless networks, shut down, or adjust the brightness.
  • Win + Z – opens the App Bar for the current Metro application.
  • Win + H – opens the Metro Share panel.
  • Win + Q – brings up the Metro App Search screen.
  • Win + W – brings up the Metro Settings search screen.
  • Win + F – brings up the Metro File search screen.
  • Win + K – opens the Devices panel (for connecting to a projector or some other device)
  • Win + ,  (comma) – Aero Peek at the desktop.
  • Win + .  (period) – Snaps the current Metro application to one side of the screen. (Right side)
  • Win + Shift + . (period)  – Snaps the current Metro application to the other side of the screen. (Left side)
  • Win + J – switches focus between snapped Metro applications.
  • Win + Page Up / Down – moves the current app to the other monitor.
  • Win + Tab – opens the Metro application switcher menu, switches between applications.

I didn’t show screenshots of how all these shortcut keys work, and there’s a reason for that: you need to test them out yourself to really learn how these keys work.

How to get Start button in Windows 8

Add a Start Button In Windows 8:

After using Windows 8 for a while, I’ve come to the conclusion that removing the Start button from the Taskbar was a huge mistake. No doubt experts can do their tasks with RUN menu itself, but for the end-user its a big headache.
Anyway, thanks to Stardock’s creativity, those of you still tooling around in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview can add this button to their version if they so choose. The button’s features include:

– Adds a “Start” menu to the Windows 8 taskbar
– Enables quick access and searching of your installed applications
– Adds Run… option via right-click menu
– Adds Shutdown… option via right-click menu
– Choose a custom Start button image

Like the site indicates, the modification is free. All you have to do is submit your email address and they will mail you a download link. You can do so here.

How To Get Facebook’s Timeline

How To Get Facebook’s Timeline:

Facebook announced the new profile, timeline, but the beta version doesn’t won’t come out until at least the end of this month, if not later, and you have to sign up for it in advance — but, there’s a way to activate it right now, without the wait.

Facebook gives developers early access to timeline so they can develop applications for it. However, you don’t really have to be a real developer, just pretend to be one! Here’s how.

Step 1: Start Facebook’s Developer Application

Facebook has a page, a group and an application called Developer — you want to click on the app, which you can find here.

If you’ve never used this app before, you’ll need to allow it to access your basic information, the same way you would when launching anything else for the first time on Facebook.

After you’ve installed the Developer tool, click on “create a new app,” a button that appears in the top right corner of the screen.

Step Two: Make Up A Name

Developer asks you to provide some information about this app you just clicked the create button for.

A pop-up asks you to input a display name and a namespace, and two of them can’t be exactly the same. It’s simplest to type in your full name for the first field and then in the second area, type it in without any spaces between words.

Then a security popup window pops up, asking you to type in the letters you see.

Step Three: Launch Open Graph

Within the left-hand column, click on the words “open graph.”

Fill out two different verbs. You can use “get profile” or choose whatever you want.

Now you’re almost done.

After a few minutes, your profile will display a notification across the top suggesting you try timeline.

Click “get it now” and start playing with your timeline.

Notice the upgrade is irreversible, so don’t shoot the messenger if you don’t like it.

Until the beta version of timeline becomes available to non-developers — Facebook says this will happen on September 30 — only people who’ve upgraded their profiles to timelines will be able to see your timeline.

Readers, have you upgraded your profile to timeline yet? If so, did you do anything creative with your cover photo? Please share your experiences in the comments section.

How to get old Facebook Chat option

When Facebook introduced the so called awesome video calling feature, it also brought the new chat sidebar which shows all your Facebook contacts rather than showing only those who are online. It’s really annoying! Yes, there was a Facebook Fan Page that has received more than 25,000 likes showing I hate the new Facebook sidebar chat messages.

In the traditional chat style, only the online contacts appear and you can customize your lists as well. So get back to the old one. You can achieve this in two ways.

First Method: Go to http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php and start chatting there. But of course this method has its own disadvantages. You need to open this window separately and should be away from your original Facebook window. So move on to the second method if its not comfortable for you.

Second Method: Install the extension on your Web Browser to disable the new sidebar chat and enable the old style.

If you are using Google Chrome, then install this Chrome extension.

If you are using Mozilla Firefox, then install this Firefox Add-on.

If you are using Opera, then install this Extension.

These add-ons and Extensions works like a charm! Now start chatting with your Facebook friends more easily. :)

By using this method you have to always open that link in new tab for every time.

How To Get A Facebook Email Account

Get you Facebook ID before anyone else….

Want your Facebook email account now? Facebook has set up the following page which enables users to upgrade their messaging system immediately.

While Facebook said that users would have to wait to be invited, there is apparently a single page that you can access that will enable you to switch to the new messaging system. So much for waiting! All you need to do is visit http://www.facebook.com/about/messages/ and click on the “Go To Messages” button as pictured in the image below. That’s all you need to do!
